Earthquake - Stunami Hits Hawaii

A stunami hits Hawaii after an earthquake that jolt Honolulu, Hawaii late Saturday (Sunday afternoon in Manila).

The official announcement had made public by the Pacific Stunami Warning Center before the entire world.

"The tsunami is arriving right now," - senior geophysicist, Gerard Fryer, told the media. "It is coming in as we speak." - he added.

A magnitude of 7.7 jolts Queen Charlotte Islands off the west coast of Canada late Saturday, the United States government researchers said.

The epicenter of the quake was pinpointed on 139 kilometers south of the town of Masser which occured at 8:04 pm, the US Geological Survey said.

Numeroud aftershocks were felt after the major quake where some where measured as high as magnitude 4.6, the Canadian officials told the reporters.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) immediately assured that there is no stunami warning in the country.

Renati Solidum, Philvolcs director on a text message to abs-cbn said "Based on the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center latest bulletin released related to the Queen Charlotte Islands region earthquake, there is no destructive widespread threat for the Pacific Ocean. This information covers the Philippines."

The director further said that the agency will closely monitoring the said incident.
