Fireworks Display Accident On UP Diliman

It was December 16, 2011 when the traditional latern parade was celebrated on University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. The said celebration is a latern competition wherein departments are battled to win the most beautiful latern display. College of Home Economics got the first place while College of Arts and Letters and Asian Institue of Tourism got the second and third place.

The said celebration ended with a fireworks display that bears to be the highlight of the festival. Unfortunately, the fireworks display had an accident wherein some students where rushed to the campus' infirmary as some fireworks flew directly to the expectators.

One student lost his consciousness after being hit on the head with the fireworks' casing while some students was treated with minor injuries on some parts of their body.

It was reported that the whole fireworks was triggered in an automated manner.

Due to the accident, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, melania Abad, said that school officials will hold an emergency meeting on Saturday afternoon to discuss the incident.

Meanwhile, police invistigtors said that operators of the fireworks display may (that's may) face charges due to the incident.
